About the Role
Keep assigned areas clean, sanitized, and aseptic by scouring, scrubbing, mopping, window washing, carpet vacuuming, dusting, and other typical housekeeping tasks. Keep workstations clean and well stocked.
Responsibilities
- Clean resident rooms and common spaces.
- Follow cleaning schedule as outlined for housekeeping.
- Clean and disinfect residential apartments.
- Dust surfaces.
- Clean window casings.
- Wipe down light fixtures on walls.
- Wipe down surfaces.
- Wash mirrors.
- Empty garbage.
- Sweep floor.
- Mop floor.
- Clean vents.
- Clean sinks and toilets.
- Vacuum.
- Communicate effectively with residents and other staff.
- Treat resident information with confidentiality.
- Report changes in resident responses and behaviors.
- Maintain a calm and pleasant manner with staff.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding staff and facility information.
- Work safely meeting all safety requirements.
- Consistently observe safety policies and procedures.
- Use safety equipment as required.
- Monitor use of housekeeping supplies.
- Serve as an example of excellence in meeting work requirements.
- Report to work and complete tasks as scheduled.
- Complies with all written housekeeping policies.
- Attends in services and all necessary training.
- Participate in annual performance evaluation process.
- Maintain a professional conduct and pleasant, friendly attitude towards staff, residents and visitors.
- Be willing to learn and change to meet needs that arise.
Requirements
- Previous healthcare or housekeeping experience desirable.
- Ability to read, write and understand English.
- Good physical and mental health.
- Ability to follow directions accurately and perform assigned tasks.
- Willingness to assume responsibility for completion of own duties.
- Have efficient time management skills.
- Commitment to excellence in cleaning.
- Must be able to work with minimal supervision.
- Self-motivated.
- Understanding of equipment.
- Plan work schedule for the day.
- Knowledge of procedures.
- Understanding of chemicals and cleaning agents.
- Must work with geriatric residents showing care and empathy.
- Be familiar with physical layout of the facility.
- Continuous walking and standing.
- Frequent twisting, bend/stoop and squatting.
- Climbing (3-6 feet), kneeling and reaching above shoulder level.
- Carry weight of 25 pounds occasionally.
- Pushing/pulling movements frequently.
- Must be aware of chemicals used for cleaning.
- Requires self-direction to comply with necessary job requirements.
