About the Role

Ceno is seeking a founding CTO to own the company's technical vision, architecture, execution, and engineering culture from the ground up. This hands-on executive role involves writing code, designing core systems, and partnering closely with the CEO to build regulated brokerage infrastructure.

Responsibilities

  • Define Ceno's technical architecture across mobile, backend, broker integrations, market data, ledgering, AI research, compliance tooling, and internal operations.
  • Build the customer-facing app on top of regulated brokerage partner rails.
  • Design modular integrations for broker, clearing, custody, FX, KYC/AML, banking, and stablecoin-ready layers.
  • Own the trade lifecycle from order entry through settlement and reconciliation.
  • Build or supervise internal ledger and reconciliation systems for cash, positions, and corporate actions.
  • Build product guardrails for KYC/AML, OFAC, suitability, and marketing claims.
  • Own the architecture for market data, including quotes, entitlements, and cost controls.
  • Build the architecture for Ceno's AI research-translation pipeline.
  • Architect the ledger and treasury model to support future stablecoin settlement corridors.
  • Establish security and reliability standards, including encryption, secrets management, and incident response.
  • Hire and lead Ceno's first engineers.
  • Represent the company in technical conversations with investors, partners, vendors, and regulators.

Requirements

  • Senior engineering leadership experience (8-10+ years) with architecture ownership and experience hiring/leading engineers.
  • Hands-on technical strength with the ability to write production code and make core architecture decisions.
  • Experience building or operating production systems in fintech, brokerage, payments, lending, neobanking, crypto exchange, FX, market data, or ledgering.
  • Experience with systems where correctness, audit trails, customer money, and operational recovery are critical.
  • Comfort in regulated or high-compliance environments.
  • Strong understanding of APIs, distributed systems, databases, queues, streams, observability, secure deployments, and incident response.
  • Practical knowledge of financial-infrastructure integrations (broker, clearing, custody, payment, exchange, etc.).
  • Familiarity with KYC, AML, OFAC, fraud controls, account opening, funding flows, and regulated financial operations.
  • AI-native engineering instincts, utilizing AI-assisted development tools.
  • Ability to build consumer-grade product flows without compromising compliance or financial correctness.
  • Strong communication skills with diverse stakeholders.
  • Founder-stage temperament, including resourcefulness and urgency.
  • Experience building AI or LLM systems with rigorous controls.
