About the Role
The Engineering Manager will develop and lead the implementation of a strategy to integrate design, focusing on resolving residual scope, aligning instructed design changes with subcontractor proposals, and managing instructed new design scope.
Responsibilities
- Develop a strategy for design integration and prepare updates to the Design Management Plan and Interface Management Plan.
- Lead the Design Team in implementing the strategy for design integration and ensure lead designer workstreams are linked to Subcontract works packages.
- Monitor and report on design integration progress and status to the wider project.
- Monitor and report on design interface progress and status to the wider project.
- Ensure Design Interface Managers consistently apply the Interface Management Plan for subcontractor design interfaces and support their engagement with the wider project team.
- Ensure the Design Team applies the stakeholder model review procedure and decisions on WSP actions are made.
- Ensure Lead Designers apply the Interface Management Plan for detailed design.
- Ensure the Design Team applies the Interface Management Plan for subcontractor design interfaces and adopts a consistent approach.
- Present the design integration strategy to the Design Team and wider project team, including key stakeholders.
- Continuously improve the strategy for design integration and associated processes, developing improvement measures for consultation and stakeholder agreement.
- Escalate associated risks to the Senior Leadership Team and client as required.
Requirements
- Experience in a design management role involving engagement with stakeholders on design, including interfacing designers, asset owners/operators, and subcontractor designers.
- Experience on civil engineering or building projects in the UK with railway system interfaces.
- Experience of line manager responsibility for design/technical managers.
- Experience of supporting systems integration activities.
- Experience of applying the NEC conditions of contract.
- Experience of model exchanges with third-party designers in a common data environment.
- Experience of using CEMAR or Eb systems.
