About the Role
As an Application / Database Engineer, you will design, develop, and support robust database and data integration solutions for critical AML and compliance platforms. This role requires expertise in SQL Server and Python development, ETL, data warehousing, and end-to-end delivery collaboration.
Responsibilities
- Design, development, and optimization of SQL Server database components, including stored procedures, functions, packages, triggers, and scripts supporting enterprise applications and reporting.
- Troubleshoot, perform root cause analysis, and resolve data-related issues across ad-hoc queries, ETL processes, and production environments.
- Design and develop scalable Python-based solutions for data processing, automation, and ETL workflows, ensuring performance and maintainability.
- Architect and implement ETL solutions, including staging layers, transformations, and handling of complex data scenarios such as slowly changing dimensions and high-volume data processing.
- Apply data warehousing concepts and multi-dimensional data modeling to build scalable, high-performance data platforms.
- Define and maintain source-to-target mappings, data lineage, and integration standards to ensure data integrity and consistency.
- Proactively identify opportunities for automation, performance optimization, and process improvement across data pipelines and operational processes.
- Ensure all deliverables comply with enterprise technology standards, security controls, regulatory requirements, and AML compliance obligations.
- Act as a key contributor during production incidents, releases, and change management activities, ensuring stability and minimal business impact.
- Foster a collaborative and high-performance team environment through strong communication, accountability, and professionalism.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Minimum 5+ years of experience in SQL Server development, including database design and performance tuning.
- Experience in troubleshooting data and application issues in production environments.
- Strong hands-on experience with Python for ETL, data processing, and automation use cases.
- Understanding of data warehousing concepts, dimensional modeling, and data architecture principles.
- Experience with C#/.NET and Visual Studio is considered an asset.
- Experience with shell scripting for automation and operational support.
- Strong ownership mindset with the ability to lead deliverables end-to-end.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to manage ambiguity and drive resolution.
- Effective communication skills, with the ability to engage both technical and business stakeholders, including senior leadership.
