About the Role
The 5th Floor Complex Medicine Unit at Marymount Hospital is a 12-bed telemetry unit caring for adult medical-surgical patients with multiple comorbidities. This role offers frequent opportunities to sharpen assessment skills, recognize subtle changes, and strengthen clinical judgment while delivering compassionate, patient-centered care. It is a strong launching point for future goals, offering broad, transferable med-surg and telemetry skills.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care.
- Implement and monitor patient care plans.
- Monitor, record and communicate patients’ conditions.
- Evaluate, update and revise plan of care to facilitate achievement of planned and expected outcomes.
- Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.
- Assess and coordinate patients’ discharge needs.
- Educate patients and family with educational materials considering cultural issues and other special concerns.
- Administer prescribed medications and treatment in accordance with approved nursing protocol.
Requirements
- Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing (Diploma, ADN or BSN program).
- Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN).
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) OR the American Red Cross.
- One-year current acute care RN experience in a hospital setting.
- Will consider licensed military RN experience.
- Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patient, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination.
- Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time.
- Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
- Requires working under stressful conditions and irregular hours.
- Exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids.
- Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
- Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
- You will be required to comply with the influenza prevention program, which will include obtaining an influenza vaccination on an annual basis or obtaining an approved exemption.
