About the Role
The Educator works in various settings to bolster the educational enrollment of nursing pipeline programs within the region. This role involves assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating educational needs and initiatives with partnering schools. The position also includes direct patient and family support and nursing care within the Registered Nurse scope of practice.
Responsibilities
- Deliver education within set and developed curricula and demonstrate competence in providing education in didactic, clinical and simulation.
- Provide feedback that will enhance learner performance, satisfaction and continued development.
- Use evidenced based practice to guide decisions.
- Relate to learners at and on all levels and provide education in an organized manner to all learners.
- Act as role model, role modeling the mission and vision of the organization and the CHS Professional Practice Model.
- Demonstrate standard precautions and infection control techniques in educational and patient care settings.
- Positively communicate with staff, management and other institutions regarding educational needs.
- Participates in learner evaluations, program evaluations, competency management and tracking.
- Design, deliver and evaluate educational curricula.
- Demonstrate competence in the implementation of the technical skills required for the care of patients and families.
- Demonstrate initiative in remaining current on CHS policies, procedures and standards.
- Act as a resource to peers.
- Demonstrate proficiency and compliance with established practices in clinical documentation.
- Demonstrate critical thinking skills by making appropriate clinical decisions, prioritizing both planned and unplanned events, and proactively addressing potential and actual problems.
- Be a resource for clinical practice and operational systems.
- Assist others and provide leadership in implementing the standards of the patient care.
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing required.
- Minimum of 3 years' clinical experience.
- Must be a current employee in good standing.
- Currently licensed in the State of New York as a Registered Professional Nurse.
- BLS certification.
- Repetitive use of hands and fingers (e.g., Use of computer keyboard).
- May require lifting and carrying light loads (up to 40 lbs), including boxes, equipment, IV solutions and stooping and kneeling (e.g., to pick up items from the floor, to remove and replace items on lower shelves and to file documents in lower file drawers).
- Sitting, walking, or standing for long periods of time may be necessary.
- Must be able physically to operate the equipment used for the job.
