About the Role
This temporary full-time opportunity is for a Research Assistant I within the Women’s College Research Institute, reporting to the Principal Investigator and Research Manager. The role is part of the Familial Breast Cancer Research Unit and focuses on collecting study participant data through interviews and medical record reviews.
Responsibilities
- Conduct telephone, online, or in-person recruitment interviews to collect study participant data, including obtaining informed consent.
- Complete review of medical records to collect research data.
- Prepare detailed notes of all interactions with participants.
- Complete data entry and quality control, ensuring accuracy and integrity of data collection.
- Investigate missing or invalid data and prepare data sets.
- Maintain research files for storing, accessing, and retrieving study data.
- Prepare and mail follow-up questionnaires to research participants or collaborators.
- Prioritize and monitor various study deadlines for own work.
- Provide administrative support, including filing, photocopying, acquiring signatures, and CV maintenance.
- Assist team members with preparing materials for proposals, progress reports, presentations, and publications.
- Act as a role model and champion, identifying and integrating safe, best practices into daily activities to foster the delivery of safe and exemplary care.
Requirements
- Applicants must reside and be legally eligible to work in Ontario.
- Some understanding of research design and research ethics.
- Some experience in a health research setting preferred.
- Some experience in cancer genetics research preferred.
- Excellent problem-solving skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
- Work efficiently under pressure with strong judgment and decision-making skills.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Well-developed interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Demonstrated record of good performance and acceptable attendance will be considered as part of the selection criteria.
- Professional behaviour and communication that meets the standards of the professional regulatory college or association, as applicable, and the standards of Women’s College Hospital.
- Plays a critical role in acting as an advocate for safety and will demonstrate principles, practices and processes that will optimize a safe environment for all.
