About the Role
The Lowboy Operator drives a tractor and trailer lowboy to locate and relocate heavy equipment, navigating in rural, off-highway, high-traffic roadways, and oil field environments.
Responsibilities
- Operate tractor and lowboy trailer in accordance with WM Safety and Life Critical Rules, OSHA, and DOT requirements, as well as all local, municipal, state, and federal laws.
- Load, transport, and unload heavy equipment at jobsites.
- Complete all required paperwork properly and within set timelines.
- Ensure all equipment and components are in good working condition at all times.
- Perform pre- and post-trip inspections of assigned equipment and document checks on standard DVIR.
- Follow company policies and procedures for routine maintenance.
- Perform general housekeeping to ensure units are operating properly.
- Report any inefficiency to the manager.
- Follow WM policies and procedures while working.
- Maintain and use appropriate personal protective equipment.
- Attend and participate in all scheduled training programs, briefings, and meetings required by WM or Manager.
- Work closely with Manager to improve efficiencies and identify best practices.
- Notify Manager of any incidents, accidents, injuries, or property damage.
- Perform any other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- 6 months to one year of heavy equipment experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
- Must be at least 21 years of age and legally eligible to work in the country where the position is located.
- Able to read, write, and speak English well enough to interact with the public, understand traffic signs, respond to official questions, and complete records or reports.
- Successfully complete pre-employment screening, including drug screen and physical.
- Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class A with an air brake endorsement.
- Must have, or be willing to obtain, a REAL ID or TSA-approved alternative.
