About the Role

Turner & Townsend seeks a Cost Manager and/or Quantity Surveyor to support construction cost services for large-scale commercial and mixed-use construction projects, including complex high-rise developments, corporate headquarters, and major urban development programs. The ideal candidate will be driven and promote our Turner & Townsend purpose and values.

Responsibilities

  • Advise clients on strategies, manage vendor prequalification, assess proposals and bids, make recommendations, chair bid interviews, and manage the appointment process.
  • Manage estimating services by developing project estimates, reviewing junior team members' estimations, presenting estimates and value engineering recommendations to clients, and validating costs with vendors.
  • Manage cost reporting by establishing schedules, reviewing cost reports and forecasts, discussing project budgets with clients, developing risk registers, and hosting project team meetings.
  • Manage cost control by reviewing payment applications, recommending contractor entitlements, reviewing change order requests, and managing disputes.
  • Manage and monitor the invoicing process.
  • Benchmark performance against other successful commissions.
  • Manage final accounting, post-contract audits, and account close-outs.
  • Hold post-contract reviews with clients to establish lessons learned and create training manuals.
  • Develop procedures for project handover.
  • Utilize Bid Analysis Sheets, Change Control Forms, Cost Estimating Software, and Take-off Software for all duties.
  • Adhere to SOX control responsibilities where applicable.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, cost management, quantity surveying, engineering, or a related construction field.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of relevant experience in a cost management role within the construction industry.
  • Experience supporting cost management on medium or large construction projects, preferably commercial office, high-rise, mixed-use, headquarters, or major urban development projects.
  • Construction consultancy experience is strongly preferred.
  • Good knowledge of construction industry technical matters, including procurement routes, value management, and value engineering.
  • Strong communication skills.
