About the Role
Zurich is seeking an experienced Underwriter for its Wholesale Financial Institution team, focusing on the wholesale broker channel. This role offers a significant opportunity within the Financial Institution team, based in either Chicago or New York City.
Responsibilities
- Underwrite and perform financial analysis across financial institution risks.
- Handle technical, transactional, and market-facing responsibilities.
- Contribute to product/proposition development, marketing, fulfillment, and portfolio management.
- Generate, underwrite, and analyze new and renewal financial institution policies.
- Engage in market-facing activities and production with wholesale brokers.
- Administer and monitor underwriting rules, guidelines, insurance laws, regulations, and rating manual rules.
- Operate within broad limits and authorities on highly complex assignments.
- Manage a portfolio of accounts and develop a pipeline of business.
- Collaborate and cross-sell with other stakeholders and lines of business within Zurich.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- 5+ years of experience in Underwriting, Market Facing, Accounting, Banking, or Risk Management (for Executive Underwriter)
- 10+ years of experience in Claims or Underwriting Support (for Executive Underwriter)
- Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree and 3+ years of experience in Underwriting or Market Facing, Accounting, Banking, or Risk Management (for Executive Underwriter)
- Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree and 8+ years of experience in Claims or Underwriting Support (for Executive Underwriter)
- 7+ years of experience in Underwriting, Market Facing, Finance, Accounting, or Banking (for AVP, Underwriting Director)
- 14+ years of experience in Claims or Underwriting Support (for AVP, Underwriting Director)
- Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree and 5+ years of experience in Underwriting or Market Facing, Accounting, Banking, or Risk Management (for AVP, Underwriting Director)
- Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree and 12+ years of experience in Claims or Underwriting Support (for AVP, Underwriting Director)
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Experience working under time constraints for quotes on new and renewal business
- Experience working in a team environment

- $100,000.00 - $215,000.00
- Executive Underwriter: $100,000.00 - $165,000.00 with Global Specialty Incentive Plan bonus eligibility set at 30%
- AVP, Underwriting Director: $130,000.00 - $215,000.00 with Global Specialty Incentive Plan bonus eligibility set at 40%
