About the Role
The Commercial Sales Support role assists Outside Sales Representatives and their customers by selling lumber, building materials, and maintenance products.
Responsibilities
- Compile lists of prospective customers for sales leads.
- Make outbound calls to potential and existing customers to qualify leads and sell products.
- Handle inbound sales calls to convert them into sales.
- Respond to customer concerns and questions using consultative selling methods.
- Emphasize salable features, quote prices and credit terms, and prepare sales orders.
- Work with management and employees to meet sales expectations and service standards.
- Track stock levels and notify management when new orders are needed.
- Coordinate special orders for out-of-stock products.
- Estimate product quantities for jobs and develop competitive pricing bids.
- Estimate product delivery dates based on production and delivery schedules.
- Schedule deliveries with customers and the Delivery Coordinator.
- Build and maintain customer relationships.
- Prepare reports on business transactions.
- Enter new customer data and sales data into the computer database.
- Work with outside sales representatives to keep account activities and literature up to date.
- Assist outside sales representatives with customers and clients as required.
- Assist customers in resolving complaints, escalating to management when appropriate.
- Investigate and resolve customer problems with deliveries, product quality, or service.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Good verbal communication skills.
- Ability to operate available equipment, such as cash registers, calculators, or scanners.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints for residential and multi-family building projects preferred.
- Basic and intermediate knowledge of building products and local building codes.
- Knowledgeable about the company’s products and services, as well as customer-related policies.
- Prolonged periods of sitting or standing and working on the computer or related equipment.
- Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds at times, and occasionally lift/move up to 50 pounds.
- May need to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Ability to perform repetitive movements over long periods.
