About the Role
Assists in carrying out patient-related activities as assigned by physical therapists. Responsible for preparing, applying, and cleaning the hydrotherapy area. Reports to the Clinical Coordinator and receives direction from Staff Physical Therapists.
Responsibilities
- Assists with patient treatment preparations, including informing the therapist of patient arrival, assisting with forms, escorting patients to the treatment area, and aiding with dressing/undressing and positioning.
- Administers hydrotherapy under the direction of a physical therapist.
- Assists patients with strength and endurance development activities under therapist direction.
- Assists patients with ambulatory training procedures as assigned by a therapist.
- Assembles equipment and accessories.
- Performs or monitors selected procedures and programs as assigned by the physical therapist.
- Maintains neat and orderly treatment areas and gym.
- Maintains established supply levels and reports needs to the Physical Therapist or Clinical Coordinator.
- Strips treatment tables of used linens and replaces with clean coverings.
- Assists patients to and from the department or arranges for volunteer assistance.
- Participates in educational programs and In-Service meetings.
- Performs duties as assigned in the absence of a secretary with appropriate cross-training.
- Demonstrates knowledge and skills to provide age-appropriate care to neonate, infant, children, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients.
- Attends all mandatory annual educational programs.
- Provides age-appropriate care.
- Understands and demonstrates the importance of satisfying customer/patient needs through friendly and caring interactions, attentiveness, and proactive communication to ensure a secure and pleasant experience.
- Participates in efforts to improve patient satisfaction scores.
Requirements
- Must be able to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served.
- Must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span.
- Must possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret appropriate information to identify age-specific needs.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) required within 90 days of hire date.
- Must be able to lift at least thirty (30) pounds independently.
- Must be able to lift at least one-hundred fifty (150) pounds with assistance of another person.
