About the Role
The Physical Therapist evaluates, plans, and provides individualized treatment programs to improve mobility, reduce pain, restore function, and prevent disability for patients recovering from injury, illness, or surgery. This role collaborates with patients, families, providers, and care teams to achieve optimal outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate patients and develop individualized treatment plans.
- Perform comprehensive physical therapy assessments and document findings, treatment plans, progress, and outcomes in the electronic medical record.
- Provide therapeutic interventions including exercise, manual therapy, modalities, and patient education.
- Monitor patient progress, modify treatment plans as needed, and discharge patients when goals are achieved.
- Educate patients and caregivers on home exercise programs, injury prevention, and wellness.
- Communicate and collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary care teams regarding patient progress and referrals.
- Supervise and support physical therapy assistants, aides, and students as appropriate.
- Fit and recommend prosthetic and orthotic devices when applicable.
- Maintain accurate documentation and comply with all regulatory, ethical, and organizational standards.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives, continuing education, and other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, reach, and perform repetitive physical activities throughout the workday.
- Ability to occasionally lift and move up to 75 pounds.
- Visual acuity sufficient for patient assessment and treatment.
