About the Role
The Content Manager leads the Core Content team to ensure the consistent quality, integrity, and currency of the looseleaf, newsletter, and reference content portfolio. This role involves maintaining content at the highest quality, serving as an escalation point for author management, owning portfolio costs, and defining team priorities. The role also supports the responsible adoption of Generative AI tools into team workflows to enhance efficiency and maintain content quality.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage team to promote common vision, values and objectives; develop inclusive, supportive culture that strives for excellence and is aligned with commercial objectives
- Lead the team through change, ensuring appropriate support, ongoing engagement, and successful adaptation/role evolution
- Manage performance and employee development, including coaching, mentoring, and formal performance evaluations; recruit and train new staff
- Build and maintain cross-functional relationships to drive collaboration, share knowledge, and leverage best practices, including sharing GenAI experiments, prompts, learnings, and workflow redesign opportunities
- Mentor others in leadership and develop management capabilities within the department
- Manage employees, balance workload across the team, and allocate portfolios
- Ensure team members understand developments, legislative reforms, procedures, case law, and trends across portfolios to keep products current and relevant
- Deliver content improvements to justify annual price increases across the portfolio
- Implement best practice editorial processes and coordinate with REPH/Straive for efficient content updating
- Periodically review content creation processes to identify opportunities for technology leverage and efficiency improvements
- Drive team adoption of all mandatory global and compliance processes in line with corporate objectives
- Collaborate with Ed Ops/REPH/Straive leadership to design and implement efficient processes and promote strong working relationships
- Extensively collaborate with Ed Ops/Straive/REPH on editorial processes and metrics to ensure content quality and timeliness to market
- Ensure the Core Content team shares product information with internal stakeholders regularly to inform and provide expertise
- Utilize content expertise and knowledge to support the construction of new content development business cases and segment analysis
- Deliver content enhancements across the portfolio and support content development initiatives
- Maintain accountability for the team operating within the set costs budget across the portfolio of titles
- Report and forecast costs for annual budgets, quarterly reforecasts, and monthly analysis
- Identify cost-saving measures within products in line with local, regional, and global targets
Requirements
- University degree or equivalent (legal preferred)
- Sound level of computer literacy
- Computer skills in Microsoft Word, MS Excel, MS Powerpoint
- Good working knowledge of technologies used in the publishing process
- Good working knowledge of publishing workflow from idea conception through to receipt by customer
- Publishing experience (usually upwards of 3 years and across multiple teams)
- Legal practice experience desirable
- Strong relationship-building and performance management skills
