About the Role

The London Borough of Waltham Forest is seeking an experienced Resettlement Support Officer to manage a caseload of families and individuals, providing tailored support to refugees in the years following their arrival. The role focuses on empowering households progressing toward independence by offering practical assistance with housing, finances, health, life skills, ESOL, and employment, while promoting independent living.

Responsibilities

  • Provide practical, person-centred support to refugees assisting with issues related to accessing Health, Education, and employment.
  • Utilize the Integration Journey Tool to gather information supporting families' journey toward independence.
  • Support refugees from Afghanistan and Ukraine as part of the Resettlement Programme.

Requirements

  • Degree or equivalent or vocational qualification in a relevant subject or area.
  • Evidence of Continuous Professional Development.
  • Experience working with refugees and other vulnerable individuals, supporting adults and families from diverse cultural backgrounds with a range of abilities, strengths, and needs.
  • Practical experience providing advocacy support.
  • Experience helping individuals and families settle into the community, develop independence, and plan for the future.
  • Satisfactory employment references and CIFAS identity checks.
  • Satisfactory declaration of interest.
  • Satisfactory DBS check.
  • Fluent English speaking ability for public-facing roles.
