About the Role

NYCHA seeks to provide quality housing that is sustainable, inclusive, and safe, while fostering opportunities for economic mobility. This role supports the Administrative Project Manager by overseeing contractor compliance and project progress.

Responsibilities

  • Review and inspect contractors' work for compliance with plans, specifications, and safety requirements.
  • Ensure vendors acquire all necessary approvals.
  • Review and recommend action on vendor proposed schedules.
  • Evaluate contractor performance and report discrepancies.
  • Issue field memoranda to enforce contract compliance.
  • Order vendors to stop work due to non-compliance or site conditions.
  • Make recommendations regarding liquidated damages and other contract enforcement mechanisms.
  • Conduct pre-construction, progress, and exit meetings.
  • Interact with resident leaders and property management staff on job-related issues.
  • Review and approve submitted Work Orders.
  • Maintain accurate project records and update the project management system.
  • Ensure formulation and completion of punch lists.
  • Review and recommend action on vendor requests for time extensions or change orders.
  • Collaborate with the project management team and vendors on change orders, document interpretation, and shop drawing approvals.
  • Maintain familiarity with applicable building codes and governmental regulations.
  • Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly reports on work progress.
  • Review and approve vendor payment requisitions.

Requirements

  • Must have permanent civil service status in the title of Associate Inspector (Housing Construction).
  • NYCHA employees must have served one year at current location and in current title and level for promotional opportunities.
  • Candidates must meet minimum qualification requirements.
  • Must have at least one year of experience as an architect, engineer, construction superintendent, mason, carpenter, plasterer, iron worker, and/or inspector of construction, in a supervisory capacity.
