About the Role
As a Senior Software Engineer (Java/SpringBoot) on the Shopping team in Berlin, you will play a key role in enhancing our rewards experience, creating exceptional user experiences, and empowering consumers to make informed shopping decisions. You will be directly involved in building and improving the digital destinations users rely on throughout their shopping journeys, impacting how millions of consumers interact with our platforms.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop modern architectures using Java, AWS technologies, microservices, NoSQL & RDBMS, event-driven architectures.
- Participate in the inception, development, and delivery of features and products on an ambitious roadmap.
- Take ownership of solution architecture, improving performance, security, scalability, modularity, and operational efficiency.
- Manage time effectively across multiple concurrent projects.
- Conduct knowledge-sharing sessions on new technologies through presentations and hands-on tasks.
Requirements
- 6+ years of experience in designing and developing complex modular applications from technical planning to implementation within client-side and server-side frameworks.
- Strong knowledge and active hands-on experience with Java and SpringBoot.
- Proficiency in object-oriented programming concepts applied to concurrent event-based systems.
- Previous knowledge and experience with JS (TypeScript, NodeJS), HTML, CSS, and React/Angular.
- Knowledge of AWS technologies (DynamoDB, Elasticsearch, relational and NoSQL databases, EventBridge, SQS, SNS) or other cloud platforms (Google Cloud, Azure).
- Experience with GraphQL, federation, and Supergraph concepts.
- Excellent understanding of common design/architectural patterns and ability to produce elegant designs in modular/microservice patterns.
- Logical, analytic thinking, structured and target-oriented approach with very good problem-solving skills.
- Passion for delivering clean code, unit/integration tests, and maintainable documentation.
- Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies and DevOps best practices.
- Demonstrated ability to support and mentor junior software development team members.
- Excellent communication skills and fluency in written and spoken English.
