About the Role

The food runner acts as a liaison between the kitchen and dining room staff, supporting guest service by running food from the line to the server or table while it is at its hottest. This role ensures the line remains clear for continuous food order preparation and the quick, efficient serving of hot quality food to the guest.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares station with under-liners, doilies, gravy boats, ramekins, serving spoons, pizza stands, pizza servers, condiments, and sauces.
  • Keeps trays clean and lined with unsoiled linen.
  • Assembles food orders by reading dupe thoroughly and matching food items to the table order.
  • Checks all dupes for special instructions and ensures directives are completed (e.g., sauce on side, allergies).
  • Ensures garnishes are properly placed on appropriate dishes.
  • Assists expediter in wiping clean all plates before delivery.
  • Pages servers to alert them to pick up their food or to be aware their tables are about to be served.
  • Calls food orders to the line when expediter is not available.
  • Follows all directions given by the chef regarding food item service.
  • Assists servers in carrying food to the correct station and table.
  • Serves food to guests from the appropriate side with open-armed service, never leaving food unattended.
  • Serves food to the proper guest position without auctioning food.
  • Communicates all 86'd items or counted down items to servers and bartenders as directed by the chef.
  • Keeps the line stocked and clean before, during, and after service.
  • Communicates all significant matters and assists in proper corrective action.
  • Maintains a respectful and cooperative working relationship with all other employees.
  • Supports bus staff and service staff when not running food.

Salary/Compensations

  • $10.70 - $13.20 per hour
