About the Role
This role is a key position within RA's Finance team, supporting the Head of Group Reporting & Control in maintaining accurate financial reporting and strong financial controls. You will own the monthly close process, coordinate payroll and payments, and play a central role in tax compliance and cost control. You will lead a small team, providing hands-on support and training, while working closely with the Head of Group Reporting & Control to continuously improve processes and controls.
Responsibilities
- Prepare monthly group management accounts and assist with the monthly management reporting pack.
- Ensure accurate and timely reporting in line with group accounting policies.
- Support group consolidation across all entities, including feeding and reconciling the consolidation model.
- Drive the month-end close process across all entities.
- Own the general ledger and ensure all balance sheet accounts are reconciled monthly.
- Reconcile merchant/PSP settlement balances to the ledger, ensuring settlement funds in transit are correctly recorded.
- Own intercompany reconciliation and elimination across all group entities.
- Coordinate the payroll process with the Management Accountant.
- Approve payment runs.
- Execute treasury operations to ensure adequate funds for promoter payments.
- Execute day-to-day foreign exchange conversion within policy.
- Monitor cash flow and liquidity.
- Manage debtors, ensuring robust collections processes and timely resolution of overdue balances.
- Monitor debtor exposure and report on key risks and trends.
- Ensure debtors management is aligned with promoter balances, with offsets accurately applied.
- Improve processes and controls within the finance team.
- Act with independence on automation projects and process improvements.
- Own and develop ticketing settlement reconciliation and controls.
- Integrate cost controls into the business in line with budgets and forecasts.
- Identify opportunities to strengthen the control environment.
- Manage the spend management platform's control environment and act as key relationship holder.
- Act as a point of contact for future external audits.
- Support the preparation of audit deliverables and documentation.
- Prepare audit schedules and supporting workpapers.
- Support the production of statutory accounts across the group's UK and overseas entities.
- Own UK tax compliance (VAT, corporation tax, PAYE).
- Coordinate foreign tax compliance across the group's overseas entities with external advisers.
- Liaise with external tax advisors to manage compliance requirements and monitor changes in tax legislation.
- Directly manage the Management Accountant, Accounts Assistant, and Credit Controller.
- Provide hands-on support and on-the-job training to direct reports.
- Set clear objectives and foster a culture of accountability and professional development.
Requirements
- Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, or CIMA).
- 3-6 years' post-qualification experience in financial reporting and management accounts.
- 2-3 years in a finance manager/financial control (or similar) role.
- Proven people management experience, with a track record of supporting and developing team members.
- Experience owning a month-end close and balance sheet reconciliations across multiple entities.
- High attention to detail and a genuine commitment to accuracy, quality, and continuous improvement.
- Experience of client money, payment settlement, or a similarly control-sensitive reconciliation environment (desirable but valued).
- Experience of high volume / low value B2C or B2B2C operating models (desirable).
- Experience working in ticketing operating models (desirable).
- Exposure to multi-currency treasury management and foreign tax compliance (desirable).
- Familiarity with Quickbooks and Fathom (desirable).
- Experience with accounting and financial system management (implementation, migration, optimisation, etc) (desirable).
