GE provides critical infrastructure communication solutions with a focus on EPC/Turnkey projects in sectors such as energy, oil & gas, mining, water/wastewater, and transportation, with a particular focus on electrical infrastructure and grid automation. The Senior Project Manager is responsible for the planning, control, and contractual execution of projects from handover to Provisional Acceptance Certificate (PAC), ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction and maximum profit/value. The Project Manager is responsible for executing projects considering financial and operational aspects such as budget, technical and contractual scope, resources, and execution planning. They are also responsible for safety, quality, risk, and opportunity management to ensure customer satisfaction both internally and externally. The Senior Project Manager will manage a portfolio of 6–8 active projects, including CCS & DCS systems (protection & control) as well as services and individual products running in parallel.
Responsibilities
- Manage project execution from quote to end of warranty, including FAT (Factory Acceptance Test), delivery, and commissioning.
- Apply project management best practices (per Project Management Handbook and specific product line instructions), with a focus on handover checks, project gate reviews, and project closure.
- Contribute to the operational performance of the unit through accurate forecasts on financial KPIs: revenue, cash flow, and contribution margin.
- Serve as the primary customer contact for contract execution.
- Ensure compliance with contractual obligations to the customer through clear feedback with consistent interaction (e.g., phone, email, etc.), customer meetings, and regular reviews.
- Execute projects in collaboration with Engineering, Logistics, Supply Chain, Procurement, and Finance departments.
- Update action plan progress and revenue/cash flow forecasts monthly.
- Prepare and present project reviews.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation and records of executed projects.
- Manage team resource planning and workload to ensure a 90% or higher billable rate.
- Lead EHS/Safety initiatives and performance, ensuring full compliance with GE rules and processes and that project teams (internal and subcontracted) are properly trained and qualified.
- Support sales teams by sharing lessons learned (ROEs) that lead to optimized project costs and delivery times.
- Implement a contract management/change strategy in the interest of GEV, contributing to business growth by independently managing variation orders for respective projects as needed.
- Act as a role model for GE’s leadership behaviors in performing roles and responsibilities.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Electronics/Telecommunication Engineering from an accredited university or college or equivalent.
- Industry knowledge.
- Previous experience in telecommunication/network or IP field activities.
- Minimum 5 years of project management experience in an EPC/Turnkey business.
- Ability to lead and motivate a project team of 3–6 people.
- Fluent German and English language skills are required.
- Technical knowledge in IP or MPLS or SDG protocols, industrial wireless technology, protection control technology, routers and switches, Powerline Carrier is a plus.
- Willingness to travel: 20%.
