About the Role

We are looking for a People Governance and Accountability Senior Manager to join our People Governance & Accountability team. This individual contributor role has meaningful scope, owning operational delivery across people governance and accountability frameworks, continuously improving them, and partnering with teams across Monzo to ensure clarity, efficiency, and control.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the day-to-day delivery of accountability regimes (SMCR and IAF/SEAR), ensuring high standards for key processes, controls, timelines, and outputs.
  • Run business-as-usual activities including fit and proper assessments, certification, accountability processes, governance documentation, and regulatory reporting.
  • Coordinate day-to-day work within the team, clarifying priorities and tracking delivery.
  • Act as a subject matter expert on accountability and people governance, assisting stakeholders with complex issues and risk-based decisions.
  • Build and evolve the broader people governance framework, covering people-related risk, controls, decision-making, and organizational change.
  • Identify and implement improvements to processes, controls, and tooling to enhance efficiency, scalability, and usability of frameworks.
  • Partner with teams across People, Legal, Compliance, Risk & Controls, Company Secretariat, the Board, and the wider business to implement decisions and drive progress.
  • Support audit, assurance, and regulatory engagement with evidence, papers, reporting, and process management.
  • Utilize data and insights to identify trends, risks, prioritize improvements, and shape the team's operational roadmap.
  • Collaborate with the People Governance & Accountability Lead on high-risk issues, strategic changes, and framework evolution.

Requirements

  • Strong experience in a regulated environment, ideally in governance, compliance, risk, or legal.
  • Hands-on experience with SMCR in a UK dual-regulated (FCA/PRA) firm.
  • Familiarity with IAF/SEAR or other accountability regimes.
  • Ability to translate regulatory or policy requirements into practical processes, training, and guidance.
  • Experience in planning and leading projects from end-to-end, driving delivery and managing timelines.
  • Collaborative and thoughtful approach to problem-solving with diverse stakeholders.
  • Strong communication skills, including writing governance papers, improving processes, and discussing nuanced decisions.
  • Comfortable building relationships with senior stakeholders and presenting in senior forums.
  • Ability to work independently and adapt to changing priorities, focusing on high-risk areas.
  • Enjoyment in building and improving ways of working, identifying gaps, and creating effective processes.
  • Proficiency in using data and judgment together to make pragmatic recommendations.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-moving environment balancing control, pace, and practicality.
