About the Role

Lead Usability Researcher / Engagement Lead responsible for independently managing usability testing programs in large-scale, agile organizations, demonstrating strategic control and in-depth content expertise at a senior level.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a usability testing program with methodological certainty and negotiation skills across multiple test cycles.
  • Provide structure in a project environment with a tight delivery cadence, make informed decisions about test scope and depth, and represent them to senior-level clients.
  • Serve as the central point of contact between our team and the client, maintaining control when testing and development cadence intersect, and ensuring reliable results at the end of each cycle and the program.
  • Take responsibility for setting up and managing a testing program with a minimum duration of 12 months, from kickoff to final evaluation.
  • Develop the operating model with the client, integrating testing into the existing development rhythm without causing delays.
  • Lead workshops for journey and scope definition per test cycle.
  • Approve test plans and ensure quality assurance across all cycles.
  • Present results in debriefs and to senior stakeholders.
  • Manage the final evaluation of a complete product maturity level, including governance-ready preparation.
  • Act as the first point of escalation and decision-making between the team and the client on scope and priority issues.
  • Contribute experience to parallel projects and clients within the Practice.

Requirements

  • Many years of experience in UX Research / Usability Testing, with several years in large-scale, agile project environments.
  • Demonstrated practice in embedding testing into an existing sprint or program rhythm, not just running it in parallel.
  • Experience with usability testing on mobile applications of comparable size and complexity.
  • Negotiation-level English (C1) proficiency, as it is the project language and communication with the client is entirely in English.
  • Proven professional credentials or training (e.g., Scrum, Design Sprint, UX certification).
  • Willingness to travel for occasional on-site appointments (workshops, debriefs).
  • Willingness to undergo client security screening.
  • Residency or work permit within the EU/EEA.
  • Sovereignty in handling tight regulatory and time constraints.
  • Ability to structure and moderate complex stakeholder landscapes.
  • High degree of personal responsibility, decisiveness, and resilience over a long project duration.
  • Commitment to upholding quality and methodology even with demanding clients.
  • Openness to AI-supported processes and workflows in daily project work.
  • Experience with payment products or regulated financial contexts is a plus.
  • Knowledge of accessibility standards (WCAG or similar) is a plus.
  • Experience with public or politically sensitive clients is a plus.
