About the Role
We are seeking a highly proactive, enthusiastic, and commercially-minded Financial Reporting Senior Analyst to join our Financial Reporting team and contribute to building a world-class finance function. This role is ideal for a fully qualified Chartered Accountant with an audit background, who will play a key role in scaling Monzo in a controlled manner while optimizing financial reporting processes with technology.
Responsibilities
- Understanding the business and our products to write insightful management commentary.
- Working with engineers and data teams to automate production elements, allowing focus on high-value tasks.
- Optimizing the use of our accounting system's features to minimize manual reporting.
- Ensuring financial reporting policies, procedures, and controls are up-to-date, relevant, useful, and scalable.
- Supporting the full year-end process, including drafting the annual report and liaising with external auditors.
- Reviewing new products, assessing accounting implications, and implementing them in the banking platform and accounting system.
- Assessing the impact of changes in accounting standards and proposing accounting policy matters for new products.
- Maintaining and developing controls to protect financial data and the balance sheet substantiation process.
- Assisting with the implementation of a new accounting system to minimize manual reporting.
- Supporting the production of ESG sustainability reporting and disclosures.
- Preparing monthly management and ad-hoc reports with meaningful analysis of movements.
- Reviewing and assessing the accounting impact of new contracts, collaborating with business and legal teams.
- Supporting internal finance team processes for a swift month-end close.
- Resolving miscellaneous inquiries and supporting the overall finance team, including forecasting, valuations, bank transfers, and tax policy research.
Requirements
- Qualified chartered accountant (ACA or CA).
- Audit experience combined with financial reporting and control experience outside of practice.
- Great eye for detail.
- Fascination with the banking and regulatory landscape, with a good understanding of key financial controls.
- Self-starter, comfortable tackling tasks from bank transfers to investor reports.
- Ability to translate complex information into simple terms for diverse audiences.
- Highly comfortable leveraging data to automate reporting and drive efficiency.
- Thrives in a dynamic and constantly evolving environment.

- SQL (bonus)
- ESG reporting/audit of sustainability information (carbon footprint, CFD/CSRD) (nice to have)
