About the Role

As our Lead for Product Data & Telemetry, you’ll design the single source of truth for how we measure our products, including metric definitions, telemetry standards, and the governance model that every dashboard, business review, and roadmap is built upon. You’ll define the data contract that engineering teams instrument against and build models that turn raw product telemetry into portfolio-level insight, with federated data governance as the operating principle. This is a hands-on senior individual-contributor role where your models feed executive decision-making, and you will help shape the company's view of its own products.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with data governance and enterprise architecture teams on product, customer, and user taxonomies, ensuring clear definitions and consistent modeling against a single source of truth.
  • Own the product measurement standard, including canonical metric definitions, naming conventions, field ownership, and change control, applied consistently across all business units.
  • Write the instrumentation specification for engineering teams and partner with them to implement telemetry against the data contract.
  • Build analytics and data models (SQL, BI, roll-up logic) to transform product telemetry into portfolio-level adoption and value insights.
  • Own data quality assurance, including coverage, freshness, and reconciliation, to ensure reliable measurement for business reviews.
  • Set the technical standard for BU-aligned analysts, serving as their reference point for rolling out standards across the business.
  • Shape the direction of the product analytics stack (capture, warehouse, BI) to ensure cohesive design of the measurement model and tooling.

Requirements

  • Proven experience designing and governing product data models and taxonomies, successfully implementing canonical metrics and naming standards in a complex, multi-product environment.
  • Strong data governance practice, including schema and field ownership, change control, and a track record of driving standards adoption across teams without direct management.
  • Fluency in SQL and experience with the BI/data-warehouse layer, including building and validating roll-up logic.
  • Sufficient data engineering literacy to design event and telemetry schemas (e.g., Pendo, Amplitude, Segment) and write instrumentation specifications.
  • Experience establishing a data contract, taxonomy, or metrics layer in a product or analytics context, preferably B2B SaaS, including integrating acquired products onto a shared measurement model.
  • Credibility to influence without authority, maintaining standards with engineering and product teams.
  • Collaborative and pragmatic style with a focus on making data clear, simple, and usable.
