About the Role

Akeneo is seeking engineers to join the SDM team, which owns the Akeneo Supplier Data Manager. This role involves building and shipping features end-to-end, working on data-processing pipelines, and taking ownership of built features. The position offers opportunities for growth into a senior engineer role, participation in customer discovery, and collaboration across the Product Cloud.

Responsibilities

  • Ship features across SDM, building and shipping real features end-to-end across the data-processing back end and the TypeScript and React front end.
  • Work on the data-processing pipelines, making them reliable and handling problems of scale and correctness.
  • Own what you build, taking on end-to-end responsibilities from shipping to monitoring in production and closing the loop with support.
  • Grow into a senior engineer through code review, pairing, and learning from a wider Staff Engineering group.
  • Take part in customer discovery to understand how customers work and how their feedback shapes product development.
  • Work across the Product Cloud, collaborating with adjacent teams and learning how the wider platform fits together.

Requirements

  • Possess the makings of a strong engineer: real problem-solving instinct, curiosity, drive, and solid fundamentals.
  • Be excited to learn and be stretched in a team working on genuinely hard problems.
  • Think and understand why something is being built and how it really works, not just close the ticket.
  • Dig in to understand when encountering unfamiliar concepts.
  • Have strong fundamentals, generally know your way around different data structures and algorithms, and be learning to reason about system design.
  • Care about writing code that works properly.
  • Want to find the real cause when something breaks or confuses you.
  • Be comfortable debugging, experimenting, and getting to the bottom of things.
  • Be comfortable across the stack or keen to be, moving between data-processing back ends and a TypeScript and React front end.
  • Know at least one of Python, PHP, or JavaScript and TypeScript, and pick up new ones fast.
  • Care about the customer and understand who uses what you build and why it matters to them.
  • Be comfortable with ambiguity or want to get there.
  • Use AI to think, explore, experiment, and reason through problems, and to learn faster.
  • Candidates from all backgrounds are encouraged to apply.
  • If your experience differs slightly but you are excited about this opportunity, we still want to hear from you.
