About the Role
The Army Software Factory (ASWF) operates like a modern technology startup within the military, transforming Soldiers into software engineers through real-world development using methodologies like Extreme Programming (XP), Lean Product Development, and User-Centered Design (UCD).
Responsibilities
- Provide architecture, design, engineering, and management support services to the Chief Data Officer.
- Enable ASWF to create and maintain data pipeline architectures to automate the processing of large complex data sets.
Requirements
- 10 years of experience with at least 3 years’ DOD experience.
- Knowledge of DoD and Army data (including metadata) administration and data standardization policies and standards.
- Knowledge of the capabilities and functionality associated with various technologies for organizing and managing data at rest and in transit.
- Knowledge of the characteristics of physical and virtual data storage media.
- Ability to analyze and plan for anticipated changes in data capacity requirement and determine, recommend, and plan the development of a new application or modification of an existing application.
- Ability to provide recommendations on new database technologies and architectures.
- Ability to advise higher level leadership on critical data architecture and management issues.
- Knowledge of cloud computing deployment models in private, public, and hybrid environments and the difference between on-premises and off-premises environments.
- Knowledge of data operations (DataOps) processes and best practices.
- Ability to design the best approach and architecture for automated data labeling and data lifecycle.
- Knowledge of how commercial and federal solutions solve Defense-related data environment and platform challenges.
- Knowledge of Personally Identifiable Information (PII), National Security System (NSS), and Personal Health Information (PHI) data security standards.
- Candidates must be eligible to obtain an Interim Secret clearance to start.
