Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the management and quality of nursing care.
  • Ensure throughput and patient flow are maintained.
  • Clinical participation in providing emergency care.

Requirements

  • Currently licensed and registered in NY State to practice as a registered professional nurse.
  • On hire, must complete Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) with a valid course completion card.
  • Prior to the end of the orientation period, must present a valid course completion card for NIMS 100, 200, 700, and 800.
  • Within three months of assignment, must attend a hospital-sponsored Crisis Training Program and attend annually thereafter.
  • Within six months of appointment, must attend the New Leadership program offered by the health system.
  • Position will primarily be medium to light work requiring lifting and/or carrying objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Requires bending, twisting, stooping, kneeling and reaching.
  • Requires 20% sitting and 80% standing or walking.
  • Requires expressing or exchanging ideas by spoken and written word.
  • Works in a clean, well-lighted, heated or ventilated facility.
  • May have occasional exposure to blood, body substances, infectious materials, chemical hazards, vibration, radiation, slippery surfaces, or noise.
  • Demonstrates physical and functional ability to perform full anatomical range of motion to accomplish tasks.
  • Evidence of visual and aural acuity and finger and hand dexterity to operate computer and office equipment.
  • Can withstand long periods of sitting, standing and/or constant walking.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs.
  • Ability to foster collaborative relationships.
  • Ability to work well under pressure.
  • Ability to organize and synthesize new information, and prioritize tasks.
  • Possesses critical thinking, analytical skills and flexibility.
  • Ability to multi-task.
  • Required detailed attention to work in an environment where interruptions cannot be controlled.
  • Demonstrates sensitivity to customer needs and expectations.
  • May be subject to irregular hours including evenings and/or weekends.

Experience Level

  • Three years’ experience as a Registered Professional Nurse in an Emergency Department is required, with five years’ experience preferred.

Education Level

  • AAS Degree in Nursing required.
  • Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing is strongly preferred.
  • Master’s Degree in Nursing or a related area is preferred.
  • For those without a Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing on appointment, one must be obtained within three years of the date of appointment.

Salary/Compensations

  • $86,239 - $107,803 annually.
