About the Role
Exa is seeking a Head of Developer Relations to establish Exa as the default search engine for developers building AI agents. This role involves community building, evangelism, and driving ecosystem integrations to make it easy for developers to choose Exa for their information retrieval needs.
Responsibilities
- Own developer community and evangelism, including presence in community spaces, hackathons, meetups, conference talks, and open source.
- Drive ecosystem and integration partnerships, ensuring Exa is integrated into agent frameworks, orchestration libraries, IDEs, and platforms.
- Develop programs to foster developer awareness and advocacy, including champions, ambassadors, and community contributors.
- Create reference applications, demos, and technical talks, partnering with Technical PMM for content.
- Hire, lead, and mentor a growing DevRel team, setting a high standard for performance.
- Establish and manage the channel for developer feedback to Product and Engineering, addressing onboarding, API ergonomics, and documentation gaps.
Requirements
- 6+ years in developer relations, developer marketing, or engineering with a significant public presence.
- Experience at a company selling an API or developer platform.
- Strong communication skills with developers, demonstrated through talks, workshops, streams, or writing.
- Ability to build and demo effectively.
- Engineering credibility with the AI stack, including experience with LLMs, agents, and retrieval.
- Proven track record of building community from an early stage.
- Experience driving ecosystem or integration partnerships to completion, working with partner engineering teams.
- Experience hiring or mentoring DevRel talent.
- Judgment in measuring DevRel value creation.
