About the Role

The Faculty of Dentistry at the University of Toronto is seeking to hire individuals to provide dental assistant and administrative services to undergraduate and graduate students, academic and administrative staff. This role involves performing all aspects of dental assisting as defined by the ODAA for regularly scheduled and special programs, following proper infection control protocols, providing administrative services, accessing and entering data on the Clinic Management System, and assisting in special assignments.

Responsibilities

Scheduling appointments
Updating and maintaining database records
Responding to enquiries within the defined scope of the role and redirecting as appropriate
Assisting faculty, dental students and technicians during treatment procedures
Applying established standards when cleaning, sanitizing and/or sterilizing facilities
Applying established standards when administering biological and/or medical imaging
Providing safety training and ensuring compliance to occupational safety precautions
Following rules and procedural processes related to Personal Health Information Protection Act (PHIPA)

Requirements

Graduation from an accredited Dental Assistant program
Certified Dental Assistant (CDA) and current member of the ODAA, including HARP
Current CPR certification
Minimum two years of experience in the dental field, encompassing all aspects of dentistry
Experience using all dental related materials and products (e.g. amalgams, impression materials, eugenols,disinfectants, put and fi ssure sealants, vinyl polysiloxanes, etc.)
Highly developed organizational, time management, and communication skills
Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills
Strong computer skills with experience in Microsoft Office
Capability to work in all facets relating to dentistry (e.g. mixing all materials)
Ability to work quickly and accurately
Manual dexterity
Ability to work in close association and cooperation with others as part of a team
Demonstrated ability to exercise tact, discretion, good judgement, and initiative
Demonstrated ability to clearly and accurately convey information

Salary/Compensations

$56,731. with an annual step progression to a maximum of $72,548.
