About the Role
The Assistant Director of the Emergency Department will be committed to performance improvement and service quality, contributing talents to achieve individual, departmental, and hospital-wide goals and objectives. This role provides overall leadership and direction for all aspects of nursing care in the Emergency Department and Clinical Decision Unit, with 24/7 administrative and clinical oversight.
Responsibilities
- Provide overall leadership and direction for all aspects of nursing care in the Emergency Department and Clinical Decision Unit.
- Be responsible for 24/7 administrative and clinical oversight, including evaluation of nursing care across emergency, and service lines, as well as financial, clinical, and quality metrics.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory agency requirements and adherence to standards of nursing practice within assigned patient care areas.
- Collaborate with department leaders to identify and resolve issues in the best interest of patient care and outcomes.
- Assist in the development, implementation, and evaluation of programs supporting recruitment, retention, and continuing education of nursing staff.
- Assume administrative responsibility for weekend shift coverage and staffing on a rotational basis as required for unit management.
- Actively participate in nursing and hospital-wide committees.
- Establish, implement, and maintain performance improvement programs based on data analysis.
- Participate in the development, review, and revision of Nursing Department policies and procedures.
Requirements
- 2-5+ years of recent clinical RN experience in an acute care setting required.
- Demonstrated Nursing Leadership/Management experience in an acute care healthcare environment.
- Clinical Nursing practice experience of 2+ Years in positions of successively greater responsibility including leadership positions in an acute care setting required.
- Must have excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills with demonstrated leadership ability.
- Must be proficient with public speaking, writing, presentations, Microsoft Office Suite.
