About the Role
The Executive Advisor is a trusted strategic partner to an Executive, providing high-quality advice, strategic insight and operational support to enable informed decision-making and successful delivery of business priorities. The role drives alignment across senior stakeholders, supports governance and executive forums, anticipates emerging issues and ensures strategic initiatives are effectively coordinated and executed. Furthermore, in an organization with distributed accountabilities and responsibilities, the role will create and maintain a “steel thread” across these organizational functions to ensure that we respond to crime in a coordinated, efficient and strategic manner. The role will also focus on the application of generative AI across the leadership and knowledge worker cohort to enhance the efficacy of the team comparative to the economic crime threats that the organization faces.
Responsibilities
- Act as a trusted advisor to the Executive, providing independent advice, strategic insight and informed recommendations that support effective decision-making and achievement of business objectives.
- Partner with the Executive to shape, prioritise and execute the strategic agenda, ensuring alignment with Group and business priorities.
- Anticipate emerging issues, risks and opportunities and proactively provide options, recommendations and briefing materials.
- Support the maintenance and growth of the positive culture within the team to ensure that it is both a high performing team but also a great place to work where we make a difference at a national level.
- Lead the implementation of generative AI in this knowledge worker cohort function to strategically assist the leadership team in responding better and faster to both emerging and existing crime types.
- Coordinate delivery of strategic initiatives, monitoring progress, dependencies and outcomes to ensure successful execution.
- Undertake strategic research, environmental scanning and analysis of business performance to identify trends and inform decision-making.
- Review Board papers, Executive Committee submissions, briefing notes, presentations, speeches and correspondence.
- Lead governance activities supporting the establishment and maintenance of the “steel thread” through appropriate executive forums, ensuring robust agendas, quality papers, reporting and timely follow-up of actions.
- Promote effective governance practices and ensure compliance with organisational policies, risk frameworks and decision-making processes.
- Identify strategic, operational and reputational risks and coordinate appropriate mitigation and escalation.
- Develop trusted relationships with senior leaders and key stakeholders across the Group to facilitate collaboration and influence outcomes.
- Represent the Executive in meetings, forums and projects as delegated, exercising sound judgement and professionalism.
- Navigate complex organisational environments and competing priorities while maintaining strong stakeholder confidence.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives that enhance governance, planning, reporting and operational effectiveness.
- Identify opportunities to simplify processes, improve organisational effectiveness and strengthen execution of strategic priorities.
- Handle highly confidential information with integrity, discretion and professionalism.
Requirements
- Extensive experience in an Executive Advisor, Chief of Staff, Strategy, Consulting or senior business management role within a complex organisation.
- Proven ability to provide strategic advice to Executive-level leaders and influence decision-making.
- Practical experience in the use and deployment of generative AI solutions.
- Exceptional written communication skills, including preparation of Board papers, executive briefings and presentations.
- Strong commercial acumen with the ability to translate complex information into clear recommendations.
- Highly developed analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving capability.
- Demonstrated success leading cross-functional strategic initiatives and governance activities.
- Outstanding stakeholder management and influencing skills, with credibility across senior leadership.
- Excellent planning, organisational and prioritisation skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities in a dynamic environment.
- Strong understanding of governance, risk management and organisational decision-making frameworks.
