About the Role

Shape the Future of Pharmacy at New York-Presbyterian/Morgan Stanley Children’s Hospital, the largest and busiest hospital in New York. Define your expertise while working with a team that's defining national standards.

Responsibilities

• Review and interpret medication orders for completeness, accuracy, and appropriateness.
• Review patient profiles for potential drug interactions, allergies, and adverse reactions.
• Maintain communication with physicians and nurses regarding safe medication use.
• Prepare and dispense medications for inpatients and outpatients, including sterile products and chemotherapy.
• Complete records for all dispensed medications, including controlled substances.
• Advise and consult with patients and families on medication use and potential side effects.
• Resolve medication dispensing system problems.
• Provide in-service education on drug use to healthcare professionals.
• Attend meetings on patient care units.
• Visit nursing units, review patient charts, and inspect medication storage areas.
• Conduct monthly inspections of patient care areas.
• Review inspection results and recommend changes for quality improvement.
• Participate in target drug monitoring and drug therapy intervention programs.

Requirements

• Current NYS Pharmacist license
• PharmD or bachelor’s Pharmacy Degree
• At least 2 years’ experience in a hospital setting
• Completion of a PGY1 and/or PGY2 residency
• Sterile compounding experience
• Board Certification (e.g. BCOP, BCPS)
