About the Role
This key operational role supports the timely, accurate, and compliant delivery of payroll services, contributing to a high-quality payroll function during a period of organizational transition and system implementation.
Responsibilities
- Support the Payroll Manager with the final stages of implementation and rollout of WSI’s new payroll plus time and attendance systems.
- Support the Payroll Manager with the creation and documentation of business processes and procedures in accordance with best practice.
- Processing of monthly and fortnightly payroll for all employees.
- Preparation of new starter and termination calculations according to relevant awards, industrial instruments, employment contracts and company policies.
- Processing of Superannuation, Payroll Tax, PAYG and Workers Compensation payments and contribute to the year-end reconciliation.
- Manage employee queries related to payroll, leave, superannuation and tax.
- Work collaboratively with People and Culture and Operations teams on the accurate application of Enterprise Agreement to staff rosters in the time and attendance system to generate accurate payments.
- Ensure timely and accurate processing, exception reporting, and continuous review of Time and Attendance data.
- Support maintenance of the payroll system and supporting training and process improvements.
- Support finance team with entitlement accruals, reporting, financial analysis and reconciliations through the payroll system and ad hoc tasks.
- Support the Payroll Manager with internal and external audits to ensure data accuracy and integrity as well as conduct payroll reconciliations and investigations as necessary.
- Support the payroll function with a proactive focus, taking shared accountability of maintaining systems, processes and reporting on day-to-day activities.
Requirements
- Proven experience in payroll for a large organisation across a mix of permanent, part-time, shift, casual and contracted staff.
- Experience in award and enterprise agreement interpretation and application.
- Background working with Time and Attendance systems.
- Previous experience supporting the delivery and implementation of new payroll systems in a corporate or government organisation (desirable).
- Experience with Workday H&C and/or Workday Payroll (desirable)
- Solid Microsoft Excel skills.
- Motivated by the opportunity to work in a high performing team in a fast-paced, high-volume environment, keeping to tight deadlines.
- Proven organisational skills, including a high degree of initiative and flexibility and the ability to manage time and resources to meet competing priorities.
- Excellent attention to detail with a quality-orientation, checking all tasks, outputs and processes for accuracy and quality.
- Flexibility and ability to adapt to change.
- Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
- Must have a keen sense of initiative with a proactive approach to tasks and collaborations.
