About the Role

Responsibilities
- Lead project development and design delivery by overseeing the preparation of design and specification documentation to support planning approvals, cost estimation, contract development, procurement, and construction activities.
- Manage contract and consultant performance by overseeing contract documentation, ensuring compliance with technical and product specifications, and coordinating internal and external resources to achieve optimal project outcomes.
- Provide project management and technical leadership through the application of project management frameworks, infrastructure contract management practices, technical standards, and specialist development and construction advice.
- Drive financial management and budget performance by developing robust project budgets, monitoring expenditure, ensuring governance processes are followed, and delivering projects within approved funding allocations.
- Foster high-performing teams and continuous improvement by building team capability, promoting an ethical and outcomes-focused culture, and leveraging project performance data and lessons learned to enhance future project planning, development, and delivery.
- Lead the strategic planning and development of major road infrastructure projects, ensuring investment decisions deliver long-term benefits for communities, customers, and the broader transport network.
- Provide expert leadership across all development stages of the project lifecycle, balancing competing priorities relating to scope, cost, quality, risk, and program while ensuring projects are developed in line with organisational objectives, governance requirements, and stakeholder expectations.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with government, industry, community, and internal stakeholders, providing trusted advice that influences decision-making and supports business priorities.
- Lead a team of skilled professionals, fostering a collaborative, high-performance culture focused on accountability, continuous improvement, and successful project outcomes.
- Exercise sound judgement in managing complex issues, making critical decisions, and driving the successful development of infrastructure projects that create lasting value for current and future communities.
Requirements
- Reporting to the Project Director responsible for projects in the South and South West region of Sydney.
- Provide strategic leadership and high-level guidance across key phases of the project lifecycle.
- Drive project assessments, governance processes, and operational delivery across multiple road infrastructure projects in accordance with best practice project management, contract management, planning, environmental, and asset management frameworks.
- Lead the development of project proposals and concept designs, ensuring solutions align with customer needs, support land use development objectives, and integrate effectively with broader transport networks and modes.
- Oversee the development of an allocated program of major road capital projects, ensuring outcomes are achieved within agreed time, cost, quality, and risk parameters while meeting stakeholder, community, and government expectations.
- Ensure infrastructure projects comply with relevant legislative obligations, and policy requirements, supporting sustainable and efficient project development from strategic to concept design and environmental assessment.
