About the Role
This role provides leadership across Japan sites while coordinating IT site operations and service delivery activities in China. You will be responsible for Go-to-Market (G2M) and Science & Technology Services (S&TS) site support, ensuring operational stability across the Tokyo office, Saitama Plant, Sales Offices, and providing operational oversight and coordination for China sites. Acting as the primary IT contact for Japan and coordinating local IT support activities in China, you will ensure a seamless end-user experience by overseeing IT infrastructure, service desk operations, onsite IT support, facilities-related IT systems, engineering support, and local application support while aligning with global IT strategies and standards. This is not a hands-on engineering role. The successful candidate should have a strong technical foundation and be capable of assessing technical situations, providing direction to vendors and support teams, and driving issue resolution while acting as the bridge between local business stakeholders and Global IT. This role offers the opportunity to drive major IT and digital transformation initiatives across Japan and China while partnering closely with Global IT teams and senior business stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Act as the primary IT Services lead for Japan and coordinate IT support activities across China, ensuring service consistency, effective escalation management, and alignment with Global IT strategy, standards, and business priorities.
- Provide operational leadership for Helpdesk Services, onsite IT support, facilities-related IT systems, engineering support, local application support, and infrastructure operations across Japan and China.
- Ensure efficient and cost-effective IT operations through management of site technologies, operational budgets, IT assets, vendor performance, and service quality.
- Act as the primary local escalation point and trusted advisor to business stakeholders, translating business and infrastructure needs into effective IT solutions and coordinating resolution of complex operational issues.
- Lead site-level governance activities, including infrastructure changes, Change Advisory Board (CAB) participation, compliance requirements, and operational risk management.
- Manage IT asset lifecycle activities, ensuring compliance, security, cost efficiency, effective leasing, retirement, and disposal processes.
- Lead local implementation, adoption, and continuous improvement of workplace and digital transformation initiatives to enhance end-user experience.
- Ensure cybersecurity, compliance and policy adherence across local IT services and infrastructure.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience leading IT Operations, Infrastructure Services, Workplace Technology, or Service Delivery in a complex multinational environment.
- Strong understanding of enterprise IT technologies, including End User Computing (EUC), Infrastructure, Networks, Cloud Services, Microsoft 365, Collaboration Platforms, and Cybersecurity.
- Experience leading incident resolution and operational support through internal teams and external Vendors, with the ability to assess technical issues, provide direction, and drive timely resolution.
- Experience managing IT vendors, service providers, budgets, service quality, SLAs, and operational costs.
- Experience working in Japan and collaborating with local business stakeholders, vendors, and cross-functional teams.
- Business-level Japanese proficiency.
- Business Fluent English, with the ability to operate effectively within a global organization and collaborate with international stakeholders.
- Strong customer-service mindset with a passion for continuous improvement and Innovation.
- Experience supporting IT operations, infrastructure, or business technology environments in China.
- Knowledge of the Chinese IT landscape, business environment, or regulatory requirements.
- Chinese language proficiency is highly preferred.
- Experience presenting to and influencing stakeholders across different functions and levels of the organization.
- Experience driving change management initiatives and supporting the adoption of new technologies, tools, or ways of working.
- Experience leading local delivery of global IT initiatives and balancing global standards with local business requirements.
- Experience leading or supporting large-scale IT initiatives such as office relocations, Infrastructure migrations, site expansions, or digital workplace transformations.
- Experience working across multiple countries or within a regional/APAC organization.
