About the Role

The Associated Students of SF State is seeking a highly qualified Head Teacher to join our Teaching team at the Early Childhood Education Center (ECEC). The ECEC serves children from 4 months – 5 years old. The Head Teacher plans and implements activities to develop social, cognitive, and motor skills, establishes strong relationships with parents, observes and assesses learning, and supervises student employees and volunteers.

Responsibilities

• Plans and implements activities designed to develop social, cognitive, and motor skills for individuals and groups of children.
• Establishes and maintains a strong, two-way relationship with parents of enrolled children.
• Observes and assesses individual and group learning experiences to ensure best practice and an anti-bias curriculum.
• Supervises and trains student employees, interns, and classroom volunteers.

Requirements

• BA degree in Child Development or related field
• Three (3) postsecondary semester or equivalent quarter units related to the care of infants
• CA Child Development Permit at the Site Supervisor Level
• Two (2) years of lead teacher experience in a Center based program
• Knowledge of principles and theories of child growth and development
• Knowledge of Reggio-inspired philosophy and its relationship to environments and learning
• Knowledge of WestEd’s Program For Infant and Toddler Care (PITC) principles and practice (if applicable to age group)
• Knowledge of California’s Desired Results Developmental Profile (DRDP), Work Sampling and/or Ages and Stages Questionnaire (ASQ) assessment tools (appropriate to age group)
• Knowledge of the Infant/Toddler or Preschool Learning and Development Foundations, published by the California Department of Education (CDE)
• Knowledge of NAEYC best practices and accreditation standards
• Knowledge of California Department of Social Services, Community Care Licensing, Title 5 & 22
• Knowledge of National Health and Safety Performance Standards Guidelines for Childcare Programs
• Pediatric First Aid and CPR certification (8 hours)
• EMSA Preventative Health, Safety, Nutrition, & Lead Poisoning training (8 hours)
• Department of Justice fingerprint clearance
• Current Health Screening, TB clearance and immunizations required by law and by SF State University Standards
• May require a post-offer background check (including a criminal records check).

Salary/Compensations

• $70,000-$74,874/annually
