About the Role

The Mother Baby Care Unit is a 28-bed unit that cares for postpartum patients and newborns. Includes rotation within the maternal child health units with training. The RN utilizes the nursing process to provide professional nursing care, incorporating patient-family centered care principles. The RN provides quality patient care according to Corewell Health policies and procedures, partnering with patients and families to develop teaching strategies and document education.

Responsibilities

Utilizes the framework of the nursing process to provide professional nursing care.
Incorporates patient-family centered care principles.
Assesses, plans, implements, evaluates, and discharges patients.
Provides quality patient care under the direction of the Nurse Leader.
Partners with and utilizes patient/family input and goals in planning care.
Develops teaching strategies for patients/families.
Documents education and learning appropriately in the health record.

Requirements

Associates or Diploma in Nursing Required
Bachelors in Nursing Required within 5 years if new graduate/nurse with less than one (1) year experience
Graduates from a non-accredited school of nursing must have at least one year of acute care experience or at least two years of experience in a licensed health care role and must have successfully passed the NCLEX licensure examination.
MI Registered Nurse (RN) required or if new grad within 60 days of hire
AHA, ARC, or Canadian Heart and Stroke Basic Life Support (BLS) required upon hire
NRP within 6 months of hire/transfer
Specialty Certification highly recommended within 2 years
At least one year med/surg experience.
Prefer at least one year Mother Baby and/or Labor and Delivery RN experience
Must comply with the MMR, Varicella, Tdap, and Influenza vaccine requirement if in an on-site or hybrid workplace category.
