About the Role

The Department of Elections is seeking applications for seasonal positions of Voter Information Pamphlet Typesetter to prepare, format, and typeset hundreds of pages of election materials for the November 3, 2026, General Election. This role ensures a consistent, accurate, and print-ready final product under strict production deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Use Adobe InDesign to format and typeset translated versions of the Official Voter Information Pamphlet.
  • Review typeset materials for formatting accuracy, completeness, and consistency.
  • Work collaboratively with Publications team to meet production deadlines.
  • Assisting with other elections-related tasks as needed.

Requirements

  • One (1) year of clerical experience including preparing and maintaining a variety of records and/or documents, filing, use of office equipment, public contact and processing of incoming and outgoing mail.
  • Completion of an approved City and County of San Francisco Clerical Administrative Training program, or completion of a clerical training program (240 hours), or 15 semester units (or equivalent quarter units) of coursework from an accredited college or university may substitute for up to 6 months of required experience.
  • Proficiency in Adobe InDesign, with experience formatting and typesetting complex documents.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to produce accurate work under tight deadlines.
  • Ability to quickly learn new systems, procedures, and election-related subject matter in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Proficient in reading and writing one or more of the following languages: Traditional Chinese, Spanish, Filipino, or Vietnamese.
