About the Role

The incumbent will be responsible for the planning and production of tax reports and returns for investment fund clients, ensuring compliance with all tax requirements and accurate, timely reporting.

Responsibilities

  • Assist and prepare tax returns for trusts and corporations, and information for unitholder tax reporting.
  • Prepare T3 factors for segregated funds and trust funds.
  • Prepare T5 factors for corporations.
  • Compute and allocate income and gain/loss for segregated funds.
  • Support GST/HST administration and compliance, including GST/HST returns for selected listed financial institutions.
  • File tax returns and communicate with CRA on matters relating to trust, corporate, and HST returns, including Notice of Objection.
  • Track Notice of Assessments status for clients and provide correspondence.
  • Maintain and review desk operating procedures for general and client-specific tax procedures.
  • Identify and streamline processes to improve efficiency and automation in tax processes.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of fund accounting or related experience in the investment fund industry or public accounting, preferably in the financial services industry.
  • Accounting or business bachelor degree.
  • CPA or working towards CPA designation.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proven organizational and time management skills.
  • Previous experience in preparation of trust and/or HST returns.
  • 1+ years of experience in investment fund tax reporting.
