Responsibilities

  • Maintain a warm and friendly demeanor.
  • Be attentive, friendly, helpful, and courteous to guests, managers, and employees.
  • Set up the bar according to hotel standards.

  • Prepare beverages and cocktails according to hotel standards.
  • Serve guests' beverage requirements in a friendly, courteous, and professional manner.
  • Break down the bar after functions, storing items according to hotel standards.
  • Adhere to all state liquor laws.
  • Be knowledgeable of hotel services and facilities.
  • Abide by all hotel policies and safety rules.
  • Follow procedures for serving liquor carefully to avoid issues with intoxicated guests.
  • Respond to guest problems, complaints, and accidents.
  • Be familiar with fire exit and fire extinguisher locations and operation.
  • Ensure bar and service areas are kept clean and tidy during service.
  • Ensure overall guest satisfaction.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent and/or experience in hotel or a related field preferred.
  • Flexible and long hours sometimes required.
  • Ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 20 pounds of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
  • Ability to stand during the entire shift.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills with all levels of employees and guests.
  • Ability to listen, understand, and clarify concerns.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize departmental functions to meet deadlines.
  • Approach all encounters with guests and employees in an attentive, friendly, courteous, and service-oriented manner.
  • Attend all hotel required meetings and trainings.
  • Maintain regular attendance in compliance with Highgate Hotel Standards.
  • Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming, including proper uniform and nametag.
  • Comply with Highgate Hotel Standards and regulations for safe and efficient operations.
  • Maximize efforts towards productivity, identify problem areas, and assist in implementing solutions.
  • Effective problem-solving skills, including anticipating, preventing, identifying, and solving problems.
  • Ability to understand and apply complex information from various sources.
  • Ability to cross-train in other hotel-related areas.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of information.
  • Ability to show initiative, including anticipating guest or operational needs.
  • Perform other duties as requested by management.
