About the Role
Genomics England is seeking a seasoned Dynamics 365 Engineer to design, engineer, and deliver high-quality D365 and Power Platform solutions. This hands-on role offers autonomy and ownership, with the opportunity to be the in-house engineering SME, guiding technical design and influencing platform evolution. The role is central to shaping architecture, building features, and providing platform direction for internal systems that power research and clinical programs.
Responsibilities
- Be the technical lead and the subject matter expert for Microsoft Dynamics 365 (D365) and the Power Platform
- Liaise with third-party partners and vendors to assess solutions, review technical proposals, and ensure alignment with internal architecture
- Collaborate with internal product manager, architects and business stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into technical specifications
- Provide regular and timely updates and reporting to stakeholders
- Prioritise tasks based on business priority, critical path and resource considerations
- Design, develop, test and maintain custom components including plugins, workflows, Cloud Flows and PowerApps Component Framework (PCF) controls
- Develop Power Apps, Power Automate Cloud Flows, Canvas Apps and Power Pages
- Secure and manage D365 portals, making appropriate use of authentication models and user roles
- Proactively troubleshoot and triage issues across D365, Power Automate Cloud Flows, SharePoint, AWS integrations and other connected services
- Provide both proactive and reactive operational support, minimising need where possible and simplifying delivery through effective logging, monitoring and knowledge transfer
- Stay current with Microsoft wave releases, assessing impact, and leading technical change management
- Contribute to internal platform governance and documentation to maintain consistency and scalability
- Provide support to internal processes such as release management and design forums
Requirements
- Significant commercial engineering experience and a proven track record of designing, engineering and delivering high-quality D365 and Power Platform solutions end to end across complex enterprise environments
- Experience managing technical delivery across delivery partners
- Confidently communicating with stakeholders at all levels of seniority
- Ability to confidently design and build solutions that are secure, scalable and maintainable
- Ability to be the in-house engineering SME for Dynamics 365 and Power Platform, trusted to guide technical design, decision making, influence platform evolution, confidently challenge where needed, and mentor others where appropriate
- Experience configuring, customising and extending D365, including plugins, workflows and integrations
- Experienced using PowerApps Component Framework (PCF) to create and customise code components / PCF controls to enhance the functionality and user experience of Power Apps
- Proficient in Power Apps for custom application development, including Canvas Apps
- Proficient in Power Automate (Flow) for process automation, including advanced expressions, custom connectors and integration with applications
- Demonstrable skills in front end software development using JavaScript
- Experience with client-side development frameworks such as React, Angular and TypeScript
- Strong familiarity with SharePoint Online and Dataverse
- Experienced with Power BI for reporting
- Good understanding of legacy process workflows
- Understanding of Power Platform features and concepts including the Common Data Service (CDS) and Common Data Model (CDM)
- Experience operating in environments handling sensitive or regulated data
- Experience working with AWS, and integrating it with D365
- Exposure to environment strategy and ALM accelerators at scale
- Highly experienced Dynamics 365 Engineer with significant commercial engineering experience and a demonstrable track record of engineering, owning and managing multiple D365 applications across complex enterprise environments, shaping technical direction and solving real engineering problems
