About the Role
Manages the day-to-day operations of the branch and supervises staff, ensuring smooth and efficient operations. Assists customers with complex transactions, cross-sells products and services, and develops new business relationships. Maintains industry knowledge and trains employees, assuming Branch Manager duties in their absence.
Responsibilities
- Oversees daily branch activities as a working supervisor, ensuring adequate staffing through efficient scheduling.
- Trains new employees and keeps all staff updated on policies, procedures, and regulations.
- Assists employees with transactions, teller unit proving, and policy adherence.
- Evaluates employee performance and may conduct appraisals, keeping the Branch Manager informed.
- Resolves unusual problems or defers to the Branch Manager, making independent decisions on overdrafts and uncollected items within credit limits.
- Works with customers on complex transactions and cross-sells bank products and services.
- Leads internal branch sales efforts and works with existing and potential clients to expand business.
- Assists customers and employees in situations requiring management intervention.
- Performs Customer Service Representative duties, including account opening, sales, and loan processing.
- Maintains current knowledge of laws, regulations, and bank policies affecting branch operations.
- Keeps staff informed of new products and services, ensuring smooth implementation of new policies.
- Stays aware of financial industry trends and market competition to optimize service and sales.
- Assists the Teller unit with proving and verifies Head Teller’s draw counts.
- Ensures the Teller unit operates efficiently within established guidelines.
- May prove ATM and perform Teller duties when needed.
- Prepares daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports for the branch.
- Assumes Branch Manager responsibilities in their absence, including staff supervision, security procedures, and problem resolution.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- 2-4 years of experience as a Universal Operations Specialist I/ II or Universal Banker II.
- Bachelors Degree in Finance or Business is preferred.
- Ability to oversee and maintain effective day-to-day operations and staff supervision.
- Ability to motivate, coach, and discipline employees.
- Thorough knowledge of retail banking operations, including current laws and regulations.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Completion or near-completion of the Management Development Core for first-line supervisors.
- Ability to participate in branch manager’s meetings, seminars, and educational activities.
- Ability to deal effectively with customers and all levels of Bank personnel.
- Bilingual in Spanish preferred.
- Effective cross-sell and sales abilities.
