About the Role

New York City Ballet is seeking a Senior Manager, Social Media with strong writing and editing skills to join their fast-paced Marketing & Media department. This role is key in supporting marketing goals, shaping organic social strategy, and promoting the company's brand and activities.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute an annual organic social strategy in coordination with the Director, Acquisition Marketing.
  • Collaborate on an annual content calendar and the creation/roll-out of assets with the Senior Associate, Social Media.
  • Natively capture photo and video social content, including rehearsal and performance footage.
  • Continue established social series and develop new ones to increase engagement and attract followers.
  • Partner with dancers, musicians, and creative areas to develop content.
  • Monitor followers and interact as appropriate.
  • Follow creative services team guidance on visual and design needs.
  • Maintain a relationship with the digital agency of record to stay updated on digital behaviors and best practices.
  • Monitor trends and track KPIs.
  • Build and maintain subject matter knowledge of the organization, including history, artists, and programming.
  • Develop storytelling across all platforms through quarterly cross-departmental content meetings.
  • Ensure all materials meet high standards and comply with NYCB's style, branding, and messaging.
  • Serve as department proofreader.
  • Maintain an organized archive of work/assets.
  • Assist with other department activities as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 5 years relevant brand/institutional social media experience.
  • Strong writing, copyediting, and proofreading skills.
  • Ability to compose in own voice and the brand's voice.
  • Keen eye for design.
  • Command of social analytics.
  • Experience covering live events is a plus.
  • Proven track record of successfully managing staff.
  • Proficient in MS Office.
  • Some experience with photo and video editing, InShot and Adobe Photoshop is a plus.
  • Organized, detail-oriented, and deadline-driven.
  • Reliable self-starter with the ability to work independently and cooperatively.
  • Strong customer service skills for internal clients/stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated interest in the arts/culture is a must; ballet is a plus, NYCB is a major plus.
  • Ability and willingness to work occasional evenings and weekends.
