About the Role

This role provides expertise in a specialized field, acting as a resource to investigate and resolve complex issues. The position involves researching, analyzing, developing, and implementing new programs, systems, and processes, as well as developing and maintaining operational documentation.
Responsibilities
- Perform drafting utilizing established engineering guidelines and standards.
- Draft construction drawings from engineering sketches, field mark-ups, and other information utilizing manual or automated methods.
- Select and apply drawing techniques and layouts in accordance with established procedures and standards.
- Prepare preliminary drawings for engineering approval.
- Develop bill of materials from engineering drawings.
- Draft plans, elevations and details for structures, installations, and other projects.
- Draw maps, diagrams, and profiles.
- Produce drawings using computer-assisted drafting systems (CAD).
- Prepare construction drawings utilizing established engineering guidelines, specifications, and standards.
- Prepare wiring diagrams, equipment layouts, and panel designs.
- Prepare the physical layouts, including general plans and elevations, grounding plans, cable and conduit plans, and construction specifications.
- Design facilities utilizing established engineering guidelines and specifications.
- Oversee the development of construction drawings from engineering sketches and other information including delineation, instruction, and references, controls, limitations, and identification information utilizing manual or automated methods.
- Develop complex tests or experiences, analyze results, and redesign or modify plans.
- Design and support complex drawings.
- Guide and direct less experienced designers and monitor support personnel.
- Modify drawing archives.
- Develop three-dimensional models, foundation plans, details, and construction specifications.
- Act as a liaison between system users, field personnel and contract firms to define, prepare, prioritize and validate accuracy of data change requests.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent; or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Basic knowledge of engineering principles as well as basic knowledge of electrical substations, generating facilities, and protection and control schemes.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
- General knowledge of engineering standards/guidelines and drawings, established drafting and design techniques.
- Ability to work with all levels of an organization including people with different styles and backgrounds.
- Ability to interact with personnel (field and office) to obtain information.
- Ability to create material lists from a drawing for engineering approval.
- A minimum of three years electrical drafting experience.
- A minimum of two years experience in electrical system design, using AutoCAD or Microstation.
- Design skills, including the development of detail design drawings from engineering guidelines and sketches.
- Proficient with the use of personal computers including spreadsheet, database, word processing, and presentation applications.
- A minimum of five years electrical drafting experience.
- A minimum of five years experience in electrical system design.
- Expert knowledge of electrical circuits and schematics.
- Excellent design skills.
- Ability to utilize CAD drafting equipment or traditional drafting technique
- Ability to use PLS-CAD with the ability to create a transmission design by importing survey data and structure models.
