About the Role

Visa is looking for versatile, curious, and energetic Software Engineers to join a multi-functional development team. You will invent, design, build, and test software products that reach a global customer base, shaping the digital future of monetary transactions by building components of powerful payment technology.

Responsibilities

• Design, code, and test systems that impact a significant portion of the world's population.
• Influence Visa's internal standards for scalability, security, and reusability.
• Collaborate multi-functionally to create design artifacts and develop best-in-class software solutions.
• Actively contribute to product quality improvements, service technology, and new business flows within agile squads.
• Develop robust and scalable products for diverse customers including end-user merchants, B2B, and business-to-government solutions.
• Leverage innovative technologies to build next-generation Payment Services, Transaction Platforms, Real-Time Payments, and Buy Now Pay Later Technology.

• Write code that fulfills website modification requests and technical requirements using standard programming languages.

Requirements

• Demonstrates relevant technical working knowledge to understand requirements.
• Identifies and contributes to the development and solution strategies to team members that improve the design and functionality of interface features across one or more project features, under minimal guidance.
• Applies standard processes on the use of programming languages (e.g. HTML, C++, Java) to write code that fulfills website modification requests and technical requirements.
• Collaborates with others to support the piloting of new technology capabilities and features that enhance the user website experience across e-commerce products.
• Analyzes bugs for simple issues and applies debugging tools to verify assumptions.
• 5+ years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or at least 2 years of work experience with an Advanced degree or 0 years of work experience with a PhD, OR 8+ years of relevant work experience.
• Experience in software engineering or a directly related field.
• Experience in developing and/or implementing web-based or mobile applications.
• Experience in a leadership role with or without direct reports.
• Experience in technologies/software systems or a directly related field.
• Experience in creating and maintaining test plans and executing testing procedures.
• Experience in debugging and troubleshooting software issues.
• Experience in collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver technical solutions.
• Experience in code review and applying coding standards.
• 6 or more years of work experience with a Bachelor's Degree or 4 or more years of relevant experience with an Advanced Degree or up to 3 years of relevant experience with a PhD.
• Experience designing and building Generative AI systems beyond simple prompt usage, including Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) architectures.
• Experience integrating LLMs into production systems, including prompt orchestration, response evaluation, and handling hallucinations or grounding issues.
• Proven ability to build end-to-end GenAI features, from data ingestion and backend services to APIs and downstream consumers.
• Experience working with container-based technologies.
• Experience building and testing enterprise-scale web services.
• Experience in product development.
• Experience working on client-facing project or technical teams.
