About the Role

The Airport Operations Coordinator performs operations and security functions at the Albany International Airport, following established guidelines and procedures to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the airport facility.

Responsibilities

  • Performs inspections of the Air Operations Area (AOA) to ensure compliance with FAR Parts 139 and CFR Part 1542.
  • Issues runway condition reports and other NOTAMS as required.
  • Inspects security access equipment and reports irregularities.
  • Ensures compliance with the Airport Certification Manual (ACM), including the Emergency Plan, Vehicle Access Plan, Snow Removal, Pedestrian and Ground Vehicles, Airport Rules and Regulations, and Security Program (ASP).
  • Assists in the coordination and monitoring of construction activity on the airport.
  • Assists in snow removal operations, aircraft salvage, and operational emergencies.
  • Assists in the monitoring of the Glycol Containment System.
  • Ensures compliance with CFR Part 1542 regarding access and identification within the Security Identification Display Area (SIDA).
  • Records and reports data for incidents such as property damage, personal injury claims, unusual occurrences, irregular operations (IROPS), and equipment malfunctions.
  • Assists with enforcing noise abatement regulations.
  • Patrols buildings and land-side grounds to ensure Airport safety, security, and cleanliness.
  • Enforces the Airport’s Security Program.
  • Ensures compliance with the Airport Certification Manual and Rules and Regulations.
  • Acts as liaison between airport tenants and maintenance departments, inputting work orders for terminal maintenance.
  • Performs customer service tasks including providing directions, managing lost and found, posting notices, and making deliveries.
  • Reports irregularities such as fire hazards, building code violations, and unlocked security doors.
  • Advises Operations Supervisor of alarms and assists with notifications to police and/or fire departments.
  • Participates in Total Quality Management programs, Goal Setting, and performance appraisals.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Must be able to pass company test pertaining to Federal Aviation Regulation Part 139 on an annual basis.
  • Meet or exceed required security training and performance criteria as mandated in the Federal Approved Airport Security Plan.
  • Must possess a valid New York State Drivers’ License.
  • Must be able to obtain a NYS Security Guard License upon employment.
  • Regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; talk; hear; and smell.
  • Frequently required to reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop; kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Occasionally required to sit.
  • Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Skills

  • Operating a computer and its various components (e.g., mouse, keyboard and monitor).
  • Navigating and using the operating system (e.g., Windows, Microsoft Office).
  • Using and managing files and folders.
  • Creating, editing, and formatting documents (e.g., Word Docs).
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak English fluently.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organizations.
  • Ability to add subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
