About the Role
As a Business and Technical Architect in EY's Canadian Banking Technology Consulting team, you will lead technical architecture strategy and large-scale transformation delivery for financial institutions. You will advise senior stakeholders on complex technology transformations, define architectural vision, and lead teams to deliver scalable, secure, and future-ready platforms.
Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end delivery of large-scale banking technology programs, ensuring alignment between business objectives and technical architecture.
- Oversee multiple workstreams and engagements, ensuring quality, risk management, and financial performance.
- Act as the technical escalation point and ensure resolution of complex architectural and delivery challenges.
- Define and own enterprise and solution architecture for core banking transformation, data platforms, and cloud ecosystems.
- Lead the design of scalable, secure, and resilient architectures, including integration, data, and application layers.
- Establish architecture governance, standards, and best practices across engagements.
- Evaluate and select technologies, platforms, and vendors (e.g., Temenos, Finacle, Thought Machine) based on client needs.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to senior client stakeholders, providing strategic guidance on technology transformation and architecture decisions.
- Translate business needs into technical roadmaps and target state architectures.
- Lead architecture workshops, design sessions, and executive presentations.
- Support and lead solutioning, proposals, and technical pursuits, contributing to EY’s go-to-market strategy.
- Identify and develop new offerings in banking technology, cloud, and data transformation.
- Contribute to thought leadership and innovation within the Banking Technology practice.
- Lead, mentor, and develop high-performing technical teams, including architects, engineers, and consultants.
- Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and technical excellence.
Requirements
- Demonstrate deep expertise in core banking architecture, cloud platforms, and enterprise integration.
- Lead confidently in complex, ambiguous environments, balancing strategic and technical priorities.
- Exhibit strong executive communication skills, with the ability to influence senior stakeholders.
- Bring a hands-on architecture mindset while operating at a strategic level.
- Drive innovation and continuous improvement across solutions and delivery models.
- Proven experience as a Technical Architect or Solution Architect in large-scale banking or financial services transformations.
- Deep expertise in core banking platforms.
- Deep expertise in cloud architecture (Azure, AWS, GCP) and cloud migration strategies.
- Deep expertise in data architecture, data migration, and modern data platforms.
- Deep expertise in integration architecture (APIs, microservices, event-driven systems).
- Strong understanding of enterprise architecture frameworks (TOGAF or similar).
- Experience in Agile and DevOps environments, including architecture delivery within iterative models.
- Exposure to engagement commercials, estimation, and deal structuring.
- Bachelor’s degree in technology, engineering, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
- 8–12+ years of experience in technology consulting or architecture roles, with a strong focus on banking or financial services.
- Proven track record of leading large-scale transformation programs and architecture design.
- Experience working with complex ecosystems and vendor landscapes.
- Ability to lead cross-functional teams, including vendors and offshore teams, in fast-paced environments.
- Willingness to work on-site with clients (e.g., GTA 2–3 days/week) and travel as required.

- $148,000 to $200,000
