About the Role
As part of the collaborative Taxation team, you will manage indirect tax and commodity tax compliance activities, acting as a trusted advisor across the organization. You will oversee monthly and annual tax compliance, ensure adherence to federal and provincial indirect tax legislation, support tax audits, and provide advisory services. This hybrid Toronto-based role collaborates closely with other leaders and the broader Finance and Reporting teams.
Responsibilities
- Manage indirect tax and commodity tax compliance activities.
- Oversee monthly and annual tax compliance.
- Ensure adherence to federal and provincial indirect tax legislation.
- Support tax audits.
- Provide tax advisory services across the organization.
- Act as a subject matter expert for business partners and senior leadership.
Requirements
- 5+ years of progressive experience in indirect tax or commodity.
- Strong knowledge of Canadian federal and provincial indirect tax legislation, compliance requirements, and tax reporting.
- Experience within insurance, banking, or another regulated financial services environment is an asset.
- Advanced Excel skills, with the ability to analyze data and support reporting requirements.
- CPA designation (or working toward it), a master's degree in taxation/finance, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
