About the Role
Clyde & Co seeks a highly motivated attorney with 3-5 years of experience in insurance coverage. This role involves representing international and domestic insurers on various liability policies and is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced team environment and is interested in complex insurance coverage matters.
Responsibilities
- Analyze rights and obligations under insurance policies, draft coverage opinions and position letters, and provide coverage advice to clients.
- Conduct rigorous legal research, analyze findings, and draft memoranda.
- Prepare and analyze pleadings, discovery, motions, supporting briefs, and legal correspondence regarding insurance coverage.
- Meet and confer with clients, opposing counsel, and other parties.
- Attend arbitrations, hearings, and mediations, as needed.
- Take a proactive role in managing matters, deadlines, and communication with clients.
- Take depositions, attending hearings, and mediations as required.
- Draft and submit pleadings, motions and briefs.
- Prepare correspondence to colleagues and clients.
- Conduct legal research using Westlaw/Lexis/Nexis.
- Draft discovery requests and discovery responses.
- Review and analyze documents and materials for production.
- Actively investigate claims and prepare case handling strategies.
- Actively and effectively report to our insurance carrier clients and insureds.
- Prepare cases for trial/mediation and participate in trial/mediation.
Requirements
- Possesses excellent academic credentials.
- Admitted to practice in California.
- Has experience in working on complex insurance coverage matters.
- Has excellent legal research, writing, and oral communication skills.
- Has strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Has the ability to simultaneously handle sensitive and time-sensitive matters.
- Has effective problem-solving skills.
- Has the ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects.
- Is admitted to practice in California.
- Has civil litigation experience.
