About the Role

SSA Group at the Buffalo Zoo is looking for Retail Associates for the zoo gift shop. SSA has partnered with cultural attractions for over 50 years to design hospitality experiences, focusing on people, innovation, and operational intelligence to create special moments with lasting impact.

Responsibilities

• Fulfill guest needs quickly and efficiently.
• Inform retail leadership about low item quantities or special requests and work with the warehouse team to pull and fill items.
• Relay relevant customer comments directly to supervisors.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
• Uphold company policies and procedures.
• Perform SSA EXTRA Guest Service steps to ensure a memorable guest experience.
• Check and stock supplies in counter areas, floor displays, and cabinets neatly, accurately, and in a timely fashion.
• Clean tables, chairs, and equipment as needed.
• Keep counter and floor areas clean and free of debris.
• Maintain a balanced cash drawer.
• Perform other related duties, tasks, and responsibilities as assigned.
• Merchandise products to maximize sales.
• Increase sales through promotional items or suggestive selling.
• Support unit efforts in Sustainability/Conservation by displaying knowledge and teaching unit staff.
• Support SSA/Unit in driving community efforts through hiring, engagement activities, and giving back.

Requirements

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to thrive in a team environment while working independently.
• Demonstrated flexibility in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to understand and implement written and verbal instructions.
• Basic computer knowledge including POS systems and Excel.
• Physical ability to stand for extended periods and move/handle boxes (10-35lbs).
• Ability to work varied hours/days, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
